Anyone else still recovering from Halloween week?? What happened to one night of fun? There are so many opportunities for kids to don their costumes and collect treats nowadays that Halloween night doesn’t seem as special. Don’t get us wrong, we love a good opportunity to dress up, it’s just exhausting!
Now, back to what you came here for…it’s a REVEAL post! We have been waiting with bated breath to show you this beautiful project we just completed. The homeowners wanted a mix of modern and traditional so we are categorizing this style as NEW TRADITIONAL! If you’ve been following us on Instagram (we hope you are!), you have seen a sneak peek of this project. Now it’s time for a deep dive!
Isn’t she beautiful?! We love the cedar accents, modern black windows, and metal eaves.
Let’s get inside! The first thing you see when you walk in to this home is a gorgeous grand piano the homeowners wanted to showcase. We added a brick accent wall and flanked it with two cozy chairs to create a space for guests to enjoy a performance.
A few steps past the unexpected foyer setup is a bright and sunny living room. We used traditional elements but worked in funky fabrics with antelope prints and scenes of peacocks to emphasize the New Traditional look we were trying to accomplish. The gold accents add a touch of class to compliment the whole scene.
Here’s a view from the the opposite angle. The mix of glass cabinets and open shelving in the built-ins is a perfect example of the New Traditional style. Make sure to zoom in on the beautiful light fixtures above the cabinets!
Next up: the KITCHEN! Everyone loves an elegant kitchen and this kitchen is the epitome of elegance. We carried the gold accents in to the kitchen using gold hardware and light fixtures. It’s always a good idea to carry some elements of your design throughout a space when dealing with an open floor. Creates a nice sense of cohesiveness.
You might have noticed the hint of navy blue peeking out from the corner of the kitchen. We love adding unexpected colors and wall treatments to amp up the style in a room. And again, carrying the idea of a brick wall treatment from the foyer in to the kitchen ties all the elements back to each other.
Right off the kitchen, we have the dining area. We incorporated a vintage inspired light fixture and a more modern round table and slipcovered chairs to stay in the same New Traditional style we’d mingled throughout the rest of the house.
And can you EVEN with that vaulted, paneled ceiling?!?
You might have also noticed another room tucked behind the kitchen. The laundry room is a space often forgotten, so we wanted to make sure this one received a little love as well!
And last, but not least, the final room for today…the PEACOCK inspired guest bedroom! This was such a fun room to design. Design always starts with inspiration and the inspiration for this room began with the peacock fabric on the lumbar pillow and then blossomed from there - the overtly peacock artwork to the more subtle peacock inspired lamps!
Check back tomorrow for the reveal of the upstairs bedrooms and basement!
